- Backhoes mount on a rear arm that pivots horizontally. The brackets are closer together, and the hydraulic ports are often in different locations.
I knew this in theory. I'd read the spec sheets. But in practice, I'd bought an attachment listed as 'universal' for both categories. It was not. That's the disconnect: what you read on a product page vs. what's actually true in your specific machine.
The hidden cost of 'universal' claims

- Return policy: Especially for custom orders. Don't assume.
That's it. It takes 20 minutes. It has saved me thousands.
If you're ordering a drill rig attachment or a bidet attachment (yes, that's a thing in some sanitation equipment), the same logic applies. Don't trust 'universal.' Trust a checklist. And if a vendor can't answer these questions, that's a red flag. Move on.
Personally, I'd rather buy from a supplier who says 'this won't work for your machine' than one who says 'it'll probably be fine.' The second one is selling you a problem.
So, bottom line: the most expensive part of equipment compatibility isn't the attachment. It's the downtime and rework. And the cheapest fix is a checklist you actually use.
